Marci A. Gilligan Ms. Gilligan is a partner at Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz. Her practice includes white collar criminal defense, criminal defense and general civil litigation in both State and Federal courts. Within the practice of white collar defense, Ms. Gilligan has defended clients accused of securities fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud, tax fraud, mortgage fraud, and violations of the Clean Water Act. She has also represented clients before State and Federal grand juries and conducted internal investigations on behalf of corporations under criminal and regulatory investigation. Most recently, Ms. Gilligan served as trial counsel in some of Colorado 's highest-profile white collar cases including the insider trading trial of the former CEO of Qwest Communications and the successful defense of a Vice President of Qwest Communications on securities fraud counts. Beyond her white collar practice, Ms. Gilligan represents clients in State and Federal cases in all variety of misdemeanors and felonies including sophisticated drug conspiracies, property crimes, computer crimes, and crimes against persons. Additionally, Ms. Gilligan has briefed and argued direct and collateral appeals in criminal cases before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Gilligan's civil experience includes representation of individuals in a wide range of State and Federal litigation involving matters from breach of contract to violations of the Air Carrier Access Act to the defense of complex securities litigation. Ms. Gilligan also has experience in the representation of claimants in FINRA arbitration. Prior to joining Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz, P.C., Ms. Gilligan was a partner at Kamlet Reichert, LLP in the criminal defense practice group and was formerly a founding partner of Richilano & Gilligan, P.C. Ms. Gilligan is a Western Regional Co-Chair of the ABA Committee on White Collar Crime, a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. She served on the Board of Directors for the Faculty of Federal Advocates from 2005 to 2007. Ms. Gilligan received her juris doctorate from the University of Kansas School of Law, where she was the recipient of the James P. Mize Trial Advocacy Award, and a Student Director of the Paul E. Wilson Defender Project. Ms. Gilligan also received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas, graduating with academic departmental honors. |
