Kristen Frost is an associate attorney with Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz who litigates in State and Federal courts at both the trial and appellate levels. Ms. Frost's practice emphasizes criminal defense and administrative law.

Ms. Frost practiced law for the Colorado State Public Defender in the Jefferson County trial office. In her capacity as a State Defender, Ms. Frost represented indigent clients in a variety of felony and misdemeanor cases . Ms. Frost took numerous cases to jury trial that resulted in beneficial outcomes for her clients. She developed expertise in defending many types of serious felony matters, such as narcotics and sexual assault cases in Colorado.

Prior to her career as a Deputy State Public Defender, Ms. Frost practiced criminal defense litigation in Chicago, Illinois, with the Law Offices of William P. Murphy. Ms. Frost handled a variety of serious matters including large drug cases, homicide, and complex financial fraud cases. Ms. Frost briefed appeals before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Ms. Frost argued sentencing issues on appeal before the Seventh Circuit in a hedge fund fraud prosecution. Ms. Frost has also represented individuals before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board where she composed petitions and argued on behalf of those seeking executive clemency.

Ms. Frost attended the National Criminal Defense College Trial Institute in Macon, Georgia, during the summer of 2007 and she recently published an article in West Thompson's Criminal Law Bulletin , " I Fought the Law and the Law Won:" When the Evolution of Firearm Sentencing Enhancement Jurisprudence in Illinois Means Unjust Punishment for Some ," 45 Crim. Law Bulletin 5 (2009). Ms. Frost is also published in the DePaul Journal of Art & Entertainment Law , The Constitutionality of an "Internet Execution ": Entertainment Network v . Lappin, 12 DePaul J. Art & Ent. L . 173 (2002).

Ms. Frost has also pursued endeavors in the field of international law during and after law school. Ms. Frost completed a post-graduate fellowship at the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences in Siracusa, Italy, in the field of international criminal law and human rights. Since that time, Ms. Frost has continued her work in this area as a moot court judge for international law moot court competitions in Chicago and Siracusa, Italy, as a volunteer judge and student advisor for the University of Colorado Law School's international moot court team, and in her role as the North American young lawyer's representative for the International Association of Penal Law.

Ms. Frost received her juris doctorate from DePaul University College of Law, where she was an editor for the Journal of Art and Entertainment law, pursued externships in both the United States District Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and worked as a Sullivan Fellow for the International Human Rights Law Institute. Ms. Frost obtained her Master of Arts degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway, in post-colonial studies and history. Ms. Frost received her undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Ms. Frost is licensed to practice in the Colorado and Illinois State Bars and is admitted to the United States District Court for Northern District of Illinois, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States.

Ms. Frost is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Women's Criminal Defense Bar Association of Cook County.

Ms. Frost has studied both French and Italian and speaks both languages.

Ms. Frost was born in Chicago, Illinois.
